Senior Project!

I only have two quarters left here at Cal Poly & it is time for my senior project.

The tentative title is

Public Relations and the Paso Robles Wine Industry: the Use of Social Networking in Marketing

I had an interview with Chris Taranto today. He is the Communications Manager of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. It really got me excited about continuing this project. Can't wait to complete it! Then I'll be one step closer to graduating.

I chose doing PR in the wine industry because that is my dream job. I would love to do in-house PR or social networking or sales for a winery. I wanted to learn more about the wine industry and I wanted to try to get my foot in the door. I thought this would be a great way to do it!

It's 2011!

Happy 2011!!

Zack and I went to Dillon Beach with Nate, Arianna, Andy and Will to ring in the new year.

My 22nd Birthday!!

I turned 22 on January 7. I went Line Dancing on Thursday night & then on Friday I got sick. My nose, my throat, my head... It was all bad. I went to sushi for dinner with a few friends and we ate cake with chopsticks! Then I went to the bars with a lot of my friends on Friday night, but I only stayed for an hour and had only one drink. Then I went home, took Nyquil and went to bed. I slept pretty much all weekend & now I feel much better!

Christmas Movies.

I love Christmas movies. I watch the same ones every year and never get tired of them.

A Christmas Story:
24-hour marathon on TBS every year!!

  • "We plunged into the cornucopia quivering with desire and the ecstasy of unbridled avarice." - Ralphie (as an adult)
  • "Aunt Clara had, for years, labored under the delusion that I was not only perpetually 4 years old, but also a girl." - Ralphie (as an adult)
  • "Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian." - Mr. Parker
  • "Deck the Hars with Boughs of Horry, Fa ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra." - Chinese restaurant workers

A Charlie Brown Christmas

  • "I never thought it was such a bad little tree. It's not bad at all, really. Maybe it just needs a little love." - Linus
  • "No, no. You don't get it at all. I mean "Jingle Bells." You know, Santa Claus and ho-ho-ho, and mistletoe and presents for pretty girls." - Lucy
  • "I don't care. We'll decorate it and it'll be just right for our play. Besides, I think it needs me. " - Charlie Brown

It's a Wonderful Life:
I watched this one this year with Christine and Rachel during finals week.

  • "What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon, Mary." - George Bailey
  • "Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?" - Clarence the Ange
  • "Look, Daddy. Teacher says, every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings." - Zuzu Bailey

The Santa Clause:
I'm watching this one right now with my mom and brother.

  • "Seeing isn't believing. Believing is seeing." - Judy the Elf
  • "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! When I get home, I'm getting a CAT scan!" - Scott Calvin
  • "The Santa Clause: In putting on the suit and entering the sleigh, the wearer waives any and all right to any previous identity, real or implied, and fully accepts the duties and responsibilities of Santa Claus, in perpetuity to which some time the wearer becomes unable to do so, by either accident or design." - Bernard the Elf

Interview Tips

From this article we can learn the five most "deadly" interview tips.

Here's a brief overview:

1. Thinking the interview is about you.

2. Failing to translate your skills and experience.

3. Being unprepared.

4. Lacking candor.

5. Not asking any questions.

Read the article for elaboration.
